Learners’ licence test aspirants will have to wait for a week

If you are planning to appear for the learners’ driving licence test, then, postpone your plans for a week. After software for the learners’ driving licence test crashed, Pune RTO has closed down its test section at the Sangam Bridge office for week-long repair work and the RTO will install Screen Test Aid for Learners License (STALL) software to prevent copying during the test.

Pune RTO is one of the highest revenue generators in the state, where nearly 750 candidates appear for the learners’ driving licence test at RTO’s Sangam Bridge office and Alandi Road office every day. At Sangam Bridge office, 50 candidates can appear simultaneously  for the test on the computerised system.

However, since last few weeks, the system developed problems and the licence issuing process was getting delayed. Hence, Pune RTO has closed the test section for repairs. Sanjay Dhaigude, deputy regional transport officer of Pune RTO, said, “There was a technical problem with the system due to which we have closed the licence test section of Sangam Bridge office for repairs till December 16. Those who wish to appear for the test during this period, can go to Alandi Road office and appear for the test.”

Dhaigude also said that STALL will be installed before reopening of the test section. He said, “With old software, all 50 candidates present in the test section get  same questions. Hence, there is a possibility of copying. But now with STALL software, all 50 candidates will be given different questions so that they cannot copy answers of other candidates.”

“The software will also help candidates to save time. At present, all 50 candidates have to be present in the test section at the same time and no one can leave the section unless all candidates complete the test. But after the installation of STALL, candidates can appear for the test and can leave the hall after completing their test.”
