Man gets life term for killing 11-yr-old

The court of additional sessions and district judge, Vinayak Joshi, on Friday awarded life imprisonment to a 35-year-old man for killing an 11-year-old boy.

The convict, Bharat Parshuram Bhise of Velhe, had accepted a contract from the victim’s uncles for the murder.

Vinayak’s father Vitthal Dhondiba Gaikwad of Velhe had filed a complaint with the police against his cousin brothers Popat Pandurang Gaikwad, Dinkar Pandurang Gaikwad, along with Bhise.

According to assistant public prosecutor Vijay Phargade, Popat and Dinkar hired Bhise to kill Vinayak in order to inherit Vitthal’s estate after the marriage of his two daughters.

The duo also paid Bhise Rs5,000 as token money.

“On September 1, 2010, after the victim played with Bhise’s son, he abducted him and made a ransom call demanding Rs2 lakh,” Phargade said.

Later, Bhise strangulated Vinayak to death and threw his body at his farm after putting it in a sack.

However, the court acquitted Popat and Dinkar of the charges pertaining to murder, kidnapping and criminal conspiracy, but slapped Bhise with a fine of Rs2,000.
