NDA cadets shine at Italy contest

Three National Defence Academy (NDA) cadets, who went to Italy to participate in a competition on law of armed conflict, have made a mark. Two of them bagged the second and fourth places in the competition for military academies.

Sergeant Kiran Shashikant Landge and Sergeant Akshat Joshi secured the second and fourth positions respectively. Cadet Yash Sawalkar finished seventh. Captain Vipin Rana had accompanied them to Italy.

The competition took place at the International Institute of Humanitarian Law, San Remo, from March 26 to 30. Twenty-six academies from 19 countries had participated in the event.
Lt Gen Jatinder Singh, SM, Commandant of NDA, congratulated the cadets for their outstanding performance. He said, “To compete with the best academies in the world and emerge triumphant speaks volumes about the quality of training at the NDA.”

The teams acted as military advisors and gave their opinion on the various situations placed before them taking into consideration the laws of armed conflict.

On his return, Sergeant Joshi said, “It was a great experience. We learnt a lot and it was an enriching experience interacting with cadets from various countries.”

The military department of the International Institute of Humanitarian Law holds the competition.

It is targeted specifically at officer cadets to promote
