Teachers from colleges under Shivaji University (SU) will work four hours extra for assessment of answer papers as Maharashtra Federation of University Teachers Organisation (MFUCTO) has withdrawn its strike on Friday.

MFUCTO had boycotted the assessment of answer papers in Shivaji University (SU, Kolhapur), University of Mumbai, University of Pune, Solapur University, Nagpur University, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Sant Gadgebaba Amravati University, Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (Nanded), Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University since April 1 to press for their demands like regularisation of non-National Eligibility

Tests (NET) and non-State Eligibility Tests qualified teachers appointed between 1992 and 1998.

The strike was withdrawn on Friday after the state government gave a written assurance to solve the issues.

“Generally the teachers work on assessment from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm, but under the present conditions they will work from 8 am to 8 pm,” SU’s controller of examination BM Hirdekar told DNA.
