Transport utility takes health break in Pune

100 drivers undergo medical check-up at Sassoon Hospital on Monday

Transport utility takes health break in Pune

Taking lessons from the bout of convulsion suffered by a Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) driver while driving a bus on Friday, the transport body has carried out fitness test of 100 drivers at Sassoon General Hospital on Monday.
Dada More (52) attached to PMPML’s Hadapsar bus depot was driving a bus in Hadapsar when he suffered a bout of convulsion which resulted in the bus hitting two bikers.

More had not undergone periodical medical check up, which according to the rules, is mandatory for all PMPML drivers who are either new recruits or above the age of 55 years. However, the check up of all the drivers is not completed because Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has discontinued medical facilities to PMPML staff from December 15 due to the non payment of outstanding amount by PMPML to PMC.

PMPML officials said, “Earlier the medical check-up was done by PMC medical board. Now, we had to approach the Sassoon Hospital for the medical check up of our drivers.”
