Two TV journalists and a car driver sustained minor injuries after the car in which they were travelling fell into a gutter on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway on Monday morning at Tajegaon village.


The incident took place in front of Food Mall located on the expressway. The police said the driver lost control over the vehicle after one of the car’s tyres burst. The injured have been identified as Jaideep Lad, Ekta Lucky and driver S Mahadaswami.


According to the police, the three were on their way to Pune from Mumbai. Just as they were reaching Food Mall in Tajegaon village area a front tyre burst and, as a result, Mahadaswami lost control. The car fell into a gutter running parallel to the road.


Assistant sub-inspector VA Shaikh of the Wadgaon Maval police station said, “The incident took place around 9am. We got a call from local residents. We reached the spot immediately. But by then, the highway police and IRB team had already reached and shifted the injured to a private hospital at Nigdi. The victims sustained minor injuries and are out of danger now.”


The police claimed there was no traffic congestion on the expressway due to the mishap.
