MUMBAI: Come December 23 and movie goers, especially kids, across the country will see their favourite mythological hero ‘Hanuman’ delivering dialogues in English. Having tasted success with the Hindi version of the animation movie, Percept Picture Company will launch Tamil and Telugu versions at a later date next year.

Sahara One’s first animation movie, based on the life of Indian mythological hero Hanuman, is created in association with Percept Picture Company and Silvertoons. While the English version is targeted at the movie goers for the coming Christmas season, the Tamil and Telugu versions are expected to bring in people into theatres during the summer vacation.

Said Ashok Ahuja, business head - distribution, Percept Picture Company, "We expect the English version to create the same magic on the box office as was done by the Hindi version last month. The Tamil and Telugu versions will be launched in 2006 summer to recreate the magic in south India".

Percept is looking at releasing the English version at all multiplex destinations in the country. In all, 35 to 40 prints is what we are targeting to launch, said Ahuja.

Percept also plans to allow viewers take home their favourite character in the form of a DVD or VCD. The company has already sold around 25,000 copies in the UK.

In India, these will be available for sale on the launch date at theatres where the film is being screened. We are looking at a minimum of 30,000 DVDs and 50,000 VCDs for the English version, he said.

To be made available at promotional rates, the exact pricing is yet to be arrived at, informed Ahuja.

DVDs/VCDs of Hanuman’s Hindi version are expected to hit the market on Friday. These copies of the movie will be launched by Eagle Media.
