The first working committee meeting, under Sharad Pawar, took several important decisions on Sunday

  • Kanpur loses, Motera gains: It is official. Kanpur will not be hosting the third Test between India and Sri Lanka. The Uttar Pradesh government has refused to spare the Green Park for the Test. At the working committee meeting here on Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association expressed helplessness and the Board of Control for Cricket in India has allotted the Test to Ahmedabad, making changes in the itinerary of the England team’s tour of India in March-April next year.

  • Asia Cup put off: The BCCI and Pakistan Cricket Board have decided to postpone the Asia Cup. It was scheduled to be held immediately after India’s tour of Pakistan in January-February. The two boards have agreed to put off the continental championship at a mutually agreed upon date. Pawar spoke to PCB chairman Shahrayar Khan before taking the decision. PCB and BCCI decide to host the Indo-Pak Test series on Ashes pattern. The BCCI and PCB also agreed to host an annual match between the national champions of the two countries. The match between Ranji Trophy winners and Kaed-e-Azam champions will be held in India and Pakistan alternately. Venues for Pak series: Lahore, Faislabad, Karachi, Peshawar, Rawal pindi and Multan

  • NCA reconstituted, likely move to Hyd: DNA learnt that the NCA, BCCI’s prized project, is likely to move to Hyderabad under Shivlal Yadav as its director. Sunil Gavaskar will continue to be its chairman although sources say there was a debate over his inclusion as well. Lalchand Rajput will be the chief coach. Brijesh Patel and Dilip Vengsarkar have been ousted from the NCA. The other members of the NCA are Ajay Shirke, Ashok Wagwat, Sunil Dev and Gopal Bose. 

  • Marketing committee: The board’s marketing committee  will be headed by the President. IS Bindra, AC Muthiah and Ranbir Singh Mahendra will be members. All the vice-presidents and office bearers will be included.

  • Cricket Improvement Committee: Kapil Dev will head the committee. The members  are Dilip Vengsarkar, L Sivaramakrishnan, Hanumant Singh Arun Lal and Ravi Shastri.

  • England Tour venues

    Test venues: Nagpur, Mumbai and Mohali
    ODI Venues: Indore, Goa, Delhi, Guwahati, Kochin, Faridabad & Jamshedpur.
