Two unknown assailants fired at television producer Anand Mahendroo near Fun Republic multiplex on Link Road in Andheri (west).

Two unknown assailants fired at television producer Anand Mahendroo near Fun Republic multiplex on Link Road in Andheri (west). The incident occurred at 4:30pm when Mahendroo was travelling in his white Toyota Corolla car (DN-09-B 2879). The police said, “Mahendroo lives at Raheja Classic building off link road. He was travelling from his residence when two people on a motorcycle fired a single round at him from a country-made revolver. The bullet grazed Mahendroo’s jaw.”
Mahendroo was alone in the car when the incident occured. The windshield of the car was damaged. Mahendroo was rushed to Belle-Vue nursing home off Veera Desai road. He was discharged at 9:30pm.
DCP Amitabh Gupta was present at the hospital when Mahendroo was being treated. He said, “We are not ruling out personal enmity or robbery as the motive.”
No arrests have been made. Sources close to the producer say Mahendroo was supposed to leave for Delhi on Wednesday. They added he had recently received an extortion call. He has produced many TV series including Dekh Bhai Dekh.
