‘Laughter is the best medicine’ goes the saying. And TV actor Swetta Keswani couldn’t agree more. For someone who has played the vamp in serials ‘Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand’ and ‘Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki’, Swetta has now set her eyes on comedy.

While her show ‘Hasya Kavi Muquabla’ has got its share of attention, it is ‘Johnny Ala Re’, the comedy show with Johnny Lever that has her all pepped up. “I’m excited about working with Johnny Lever. It’s a great opportunity. He’s simply the best,” says Swetta.

While Johnny will regale audiences with his stand-up acts, Swetta is hosting the show. “I’m streamlining the show. It promises to be very interactive,” she elaborates.

She is also co-hosting four episodes of ‘Wah Wah -Hasya Kavi Sammelan’ with humorist Shailesh Lodha. “I was nervous initially, but it went off well. The audiences were amused with Shailesh’s performance and my portrayal of Anarkali in the first act,” she gushes.

Then there’s also another comedy show coming up on UTV. Quiz her about it and she gets elusive, “It’s too early to talk about it.”

So what explains this shift from negative roles to comedy? She reasons, “I didn’t want to get typecast. My roles were getting repetitive. I wanted to get out of the saas bahu mould. Comedy is a challenge and I’m game for it.” She adds, “Comedy is not new to me. I started out with comedy shows such as ‘Jee Sahib’.”

What about films and music videos? “Finding your place in Bollywood is easier said than done - especially, when you don’t have a godfather. Sandhya Mridul, for instance, got recognized with ‘Page 3’. So far such an opportunity has evaded me. But I’m still looking for good offers,” she signs off.
