Laughter seems to have run out on the sets of ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ with reports of the two judges - former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu and chat show king Shekhar Suman gunning for each other! In their latest showdown, Sidhu apparently insinuated Suman was a ‘chakka’, which lead to the latter stopping the show midway. He only agreed to resume shooting once he was assured the offensive lines would be edited out.

When contacted, Suman expressed his displeasure and how! “It’s ironical, considering that I’m the one who got Siddhu on to the show.  Siddhu is great company to be with, but the fact is, he is very insecure. He doesn’t understand that he and I are merely judges and that the competition is not between us. You can’t get personal. Also, I have immense respect for Siddhu as a great cricketer and so I expect him to have the same kind of respect for me as a great entertainer. Un-parliamentary language can be edited out, but what about the live audience present there? Perizaad Zorabian, who was present there, came up to me and said she was shocked by the statement.”

Sidhu, however, was more guarded with his comments. He said, “My own opinion or someone else’s opinion about each other shouldn’t really matter. My only aim for doing the show is to spread happiness to mankind. As far as I am concerned, I have managed to do that. If Shekhar has any problem, that’s his problem. I don’t want to bring myself down to discussing it.” Rajesh Kamat, the producer of the show says, “I cannot comment on this episode. All I can say is that both are happily promoting the show. We are very optimistic of the second season of the show, because there are more expectations from it.”

Deepak Sehgal, senior executive president, Content, Star TV, who is in Delhi for a press conference for the show says, “Whatever the problem between the two, they have sorted it out amongst themselves. Nothing could stop the show.”
