The Mira Road police, who arrested four young men for raping and abusing a minor girl, are exploring whether the boys and the girl saw a pornographic movie together and later filmed her while being raped.

Amit, the main accused in the case, said to be a student of Santacruz Catering College, stays with his mother.

According to police, Amit, who knows the girl, invited her over to their residence, on the pretext that it was his sister’s birthday.

When the girl reached there, the four — three accomplices were already there — raped her one after another after offering a juice. The girl fell almost unconscious after taking the juice.

The three accomplices — Shamim Abbas Jafri, 16, Salman Razak Khan, 15, and Faiz Mehboob Sheikh, 16, will be produced before the court on Saturday. The police seized a television, tape recorder and some CDs from Amit’s home.

The girl is a student of class IX of Abid Patel Memorial School. The police said the girl decided to lodge a complaint late since her mother, who runs a beauty parlour, was out of station. The victim’s father works at a shoe store in Malad and comes home only after 11pm.

The girl did not disclose about the rape to her father. Contradicting the police version, Amit’s mother said, “This has been fabricated to malign my son. He doesn’t have a sister, so there’s no question inviting this girl for a birthday party.” However, she herself dragged her son to the police station.

She said, “If he has really done anything wrong, he should be punished.”

Meanwhile, a neighbour of Amit, requesting anonymity, said the boy often lapsed into spells of depression and had attempted suicide a couple of times.

One of his classmates described him as a “prankster and a trouble-maker”. Inspector NK Murade said, “The boys and the girl have been sent for medical examination. We are investigating the matter and it is too early to say anything now.”
