433 cases of dengue in Maharashtra

Maharashtra Health Directorate on Wednesday said there were a total of 433 dengue cases admitted at various hospitals in the state, including 14 new suspected cases in Mumbai's private hospitals.

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Health Directorate on Wednesday said there were a total of 433 dengue cases admitted at various hospitals in the state, including 14 new suspected cases in Mumbai's private hospitals.

About 433 patients with dengue are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the state, Maharashtra Health Directorate, Director, Dr P P Doke said.

"This includes 14 new cases admitted in private hospitals in Mumbai," he said.

All the cases are laboratory tested, while the 14 cases in Mumbai are being tested for confirmation, according to Chief Health Executive of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai Dr Jairaj Thanekar.

So far, 14 persons have died of dengue in Mumbai and five in rest of the state taking the total of dengue deaths to 19 since April this year, Doke said.

Thanekar informed that besides cases of dengue, MCGM has registered 188 cases of fever, 14 cases of malaria and one suspected case of Leptospirosis in the city.

"Currently we are concentrating on dengue by taking various measures," he added.
