PUNE: Abdul Karim Telgi, prime accused in the inter-state multi crore fake stamp paper scam, on Thursday moved an application in the MCOCA Court, seeking pardon and wanting to be made government approver in the scam.

In an application to Special Judge Chitra Bhedi, Telgi, through his lawyers Harshad Nimbalkar and Milind Pawar, prayed that he be tendered pardon as an accomplice and allowed to make true and full disclosures of all the facts and circumstances within his knowledge relating to the case.

Nimbalkar stated that the prosecution has made submissions by opening the case under section 226 of the Criminal Procedure Code and the arguments of various accused are under progress.

The accused Telgi is yet to make his submissions and since the charges are yet to be finalized and framed against various accused, this was the proper time to prefer his application.

Telgi has maintained since the beginning that he is not the King-pin of the stamp scam nor he is the main conspirator of the scam. During arguments, some of the accused have also reiterated the above facts.

Telgi said there are various facts pertaining to the offence in question which are within his knowledge and the said facts do not form the part of the chargesheet of this case filed by the SIT or the CBI in the court.

The accused, therefore, feels that it is necessary that the entire truth should come before the court as the chargesheet does not mention it and some of the accused are still at large.

The accused is ready to make a full and true disclosure of the whole circumstances within his knowledge relating to the offence and regarding the complicity of all other persons concerned before this court, if he is made an accomplice and tendered pardon.

This will enable the accused to place the entire facts before the Court, the application said.

Meanwhile, for the first time, former Samajwadi Janata Party MLA Anil Gote from Dhule moved an application seeking interim bail.

He said only one FIR has been filed against him and therefore he be given interim bail.
