HID Global to expand base in India

CHENNAI: HID Global, a security solutions company, on Thursday said it would expand its base in India in the next three years by concentrating on IT/IT-enabled services, (IT/ITES), manufacturing and government sectors.

"The need to set up security in sensitive government installations like airports and power plants has created new identity solution challenges and HID India is geared up to respond to these emerging needs," said Harish Vellat, Managing Director, HID India.

With the experience of serving nearly seven out of ten Fortune 1000 companies using HID solutions, the company expects to replicate deeper penetration in a high growth market like India and in the next three years.

HID India plans to increase the penetration level of HID Access solutions upto 80 per cent of the top 500 companies of the country.

"HID, with its partners, offers innovative solutions using highly secure and easily deployable smart card technology to meet the high security needs of government installations like airport and power plants", said Vellat.

The Identity Solutions that are deployed at airports are based on biometric smart cards.

HID also offers applications in access technology that allow hands-free access solution to identify a vehicle and its authorised driver. This allows vehicle gates to be operated with remote control in high security places like airports.

Recently, the solution was deployed at the parking space around Vidhana Soudha in Bangalore, whereby only authorized vehicles could enter the parking area.
