KARACHI: Pakistan's senior batsman Younis Khan believes his team would have an edge over India in the next month's Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa.
"I think we have an edge over India in the Twenty20 format of the game and we should do well in this tournament," he said at the conditioning camp being held in Lahore under new coach Australian Geoff Lawson.
Pakistan and India are drawn in the same preliminary round group with Scotland.
The flamboyant batsman had turned down the Pakistan captaincy after the World Cup, saying he was not in the right frame of mind to take up the responsibility and wanted to concentrate on his batting and fitness.
Younis spent the last few months playing for Yorkshire in the English county championship.
He also made it clear he had no regrets over losing the vice-captaincy to Salman Butt or not accepting the captaincy.
"It is no big deal for me. I am available and happy to provide all support and cooperation to the new captain."
Younis also supported the appointment of Lawson and said he would like working with him. "We are up to play some very tough series in the coming months and it will be interesting to be working with an Australian with a focus on doing well."
