BECAUSE when she started out in the ‘80s, she was the lone woman in a male-dominated industry. She stuck on to try and was determined to make an impact on the film industry.

BECAUSE Jackie Shroff, a man ahead of his time, was one of the actors she started designing for. “He perceived me to be more than just a pretty young thing,” she says.

BECAUSE she has designed clothes for 150 actors, 600 films and is still eager to learn something more and move ahead. “I first worked with Anita Raaj and second with Salman Khan. I wanted to make an impact,” she states, confidently.

BECAUSE she has won the Rajiv Gandhi award and the Rashtriya Ekta award for her contribution to the film industry and for her work on Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ‘Mission Kashmir’.

BECAUSE she’s not just designing clothes, but has also created beautiful jewellery and interiors. “I’ve all kinds of stuff and this is just to keep the fire burning.”

BECAUSE she is constantly looking to discover new things. She’s now making her foray into television with ‘Nach Baliye’. “I do not like stagnating; television is a great challenge for me because they’re regular looking people and I have to make them look perfect.”

BECAUSE she’s dressed up international stars like Michael Jackson. “I also thoroughly enjoyed working on ‘Taj Mahal’ and ‘The Far Pavilions’, she says, adding, “though the one international star I’d like to dress is Madonna because she truly is a style icon.”
