NEW DELHI: India is expected to share with China evidence about involvement of Pakistan-based elements in the Mumbai terror attacks when Chinese vice-foreign minister He Yafei meets foreign secretary Shiv Shankar Menon on Monday.
He Yafei, who will arrive here on Sunday evening, will also meet national security Adviser M K Narayanan. He Yafei is also expected to meet external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee.
During his meeting with the Chinese Minister, Menon is expected to share details of the Mumbai attacks which point to involvement of Lashkar-e-Taiba and other Pakistan-based elements.
India has compiled a dossier of evidence which includes confession of Mohammad Ajmal Amir, the lone terrorist arrested during the attack, satellite phone intercepts and record of logbooks recovered from a ship by which ten heavily armed terrorists came from Karachi to Mumbai on November 26.
Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi had talked to Mukherjee over phone a week ago during which the Indian leader had told him about New Delhi having the evidence.
Yang, while agreeing that perpetrators of the attack should be brought to justice, had advised that India and Pakistan should hold dialogue for the benefit of the region.
Mukherjee urged the Chinese foreign minister to put pressure on its ally Pakistan to act in a concrete manner so that cross-border terrorism against India ends.
Yang had also talked to Pakistan foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi over phone a week ago after which He Yafei went to Islamabad.
He Yafei was told by Pakistani leaders that Islamabad is ready to carry out a joint investigation into the Mumbai attack and will take action against anyone found involved in the terrorist incident if New Delhi shared evidence.
As part of its efforts to build international pressure on Pakistan, India is seeking to use the influence of Islamabad's allies China as also Saudi Arabia.
In the wake of Indo-Pak tensions, Saudi foreign minister Saud Al-Faisal visited here about a week back.
