A team of policemen has been sent to Allahbad in Uttar Pradesh to trace the security guard who robbed film producer Sajid Nadiadwala at gun point for cash and jewellery worth over Rs50 lakh. Prabhat Tripathi, 22 attached to the Tiger Security Agency was working for Nadiadwala since the last four months on night duty.

The Versova police interrogated Gurmeet Singh alias Shera who heads the security agency. “We got a copy of his resume, which was submitted by Tripathi. His residential address was of Allahbad and our team will reach there soon,” said senior inspector Suresh Nalavde. The police however feel that Tripathi has provided false details on his resume. Singh, who earlier worked as Salman Khan’s body guard visited the crime branch in Crawford Market on Friday and sources said that he was called for questioning.

According to Nalavde, Tripathi aspired to be a policeman and had applied for the job in UP. “He was not selected so he came to Mumbai and looked for a private job,” said Nalavde adding that security agency which hired Tripathi was very careless with the procedures before hiring him. “Tripathi’s resume is filled vaguely and the security agency has not bothered to re confirm any of the details filled in the resume,” he added.

On Friday at around 3am, Nadiadwala and his wife Wardha returned to their sixth floor residence in Ocean View building at Versova from a party. Tripathi who was the house security guard was sitting in passage near the entrance of Nadiadwala’s house.

Nadiadwalas own two flats on the sixth floor. While Wardha and Nadiadwala reside in one, the other one is occupied by his mother. Wardha came out to go to the other flat where she had kept her five month old baby before going for the party. She checked on her baby and was returning to her flat when Tripathi held her at gun point and entered the house along with her. A terrified Nadiawala asked Tripathi to drop the gun. Tripathi however aimed the gun on Nadiawala and asked for the entire cash and jewellery.

Nadiadwala gave him cash worth over Rs 10 lakhs and jewellery worth over Rs40 lakh. Tripathi then locked Nadiadwala and his wife in the bathroom and snatched away their cell phone. He also threatened them with dire consequences if they informed the police before fleeing with the valuables.
