Yes, we’ve taken a place in Juhu: Raj Kundra

Raj Kundra doesn’t mind lurking in the shadows when the flashbulbs look out for his girlfriend Shilpa Shetty. “I am very proud of her. In every relationship there will be a person who’s the dominating character. That doesn’t mean that celebrities don’t marry or that they don’t get a partner. You have to let go of that ego. There’s no ego in our relationship,” says Raj.
 
The London-based businessman has made his first investment in India with a Rs 75 crore stake in the Shane Warne-led Rajasthan Royals along with Shilpa. “It might be a gift to each other, but this is not a toy that we have bought. It is serious business.”

Possibly the most expensive Valentine’s Day gift in these times of recession, Raj admits that his family was initially “hesitant” when he announced that he was seeing Shilpa. “They had their hesitations in the beginning…but later on they realised that she is such a sweet person.”

Dithering to talk about marriage, Raj throws obvious hints as he talks about their house in the city and him getting used to Mumbai life. Shilpa had already announced in an earlier interview with DNA that she will never shift base to get married. “That (marriage) will be an announcement we will make at the right time…Right now, I stay half a month in London and the other half in India,” he says.

According to sources, Raj has bought the ground floor and first floor flats in Fortune 10, a building along Juhu beach, for a steep price of Rs 24 crore. “Yes, we have taken a place in Juhu and it has been a costly affair since it’s about 25,000 square feet in size. Our home is being designed by Shilpa’s friend Suzanne (Khan). It will be ready towards the end of this year.”
