Prince Harry's charity 'fails to deliver promised money to orphanage'

Prince Harry's 'Sentebale', a charity set up to help vulnerable children and young people, has landed in a feud over finances promised to an orphanage in Lesotho.

Dr Motlatsi Morolong, the chairman of Lesotho Child Counselling Unit, revealed despite being assured of financial assistance of 30,000 pounds by the royal's charity to keep the orphanage running, the money was yet to arrive, reports The Telegraph.

Dr Morolong said: "I would fly to London if I thought it would help to appeal to Prince Harry in person to help us. He is a well intentioned man and so is his brother. The situation is critical and we cannot understand why they do not fulfil the promise they made to us to help these children.

"I understand that the Prince is aware there is a problem over here. Sentebale promised us 515,000 maloti (30,000 pounds) but I would now accept just a few thousand pounds to install a pipe so we can have running water and to pay for food for two or three months. We are scavenging for food at the moment."

Meanwhile, Sentebale insisted that the delay was being caused due to a seeming hesitation on behalf of the unit's management to provide undertakings over transparency of their financial processes.

A spokesman for Sentebale said: "We have asked for basic assurances about where the LCCU is raising money from to ensure that we are not funding projects that other organisations are also funding.

"This level of transparency is a very basic undertaking. As a sign of goodwill, we have continued to fund salaries at the LCCU. We are 100 per cent committed to helping out the most vulnerable children of Lesotho."
