G-20 nations need to act together to improve world economy:US

As US president Barack Obama prepares to attend the G-20 Summit in London next month, the White House has said it is the responsibility of all the major countries to get together to improve the economy of the world.
    
The issue would dominate Obama's meeting with British prime minister Gordon Brown at White House, its spokesperson Robert Gibbs said.

"We'll see prime minister Brown on Tuesday, and continue those conversations as we lead into the London economic summit in order to not just do something -- not just have one economy and one country do something, but everybody on the world stage act together to improve our economy," Gibbs said on Monday during the course of his daily press briefing.
    
Gibbs said Obama's meeting with Brown is the fourth in a series of meetings that he's had with leaders representing the G-20 in this lead-up to the London economic summit in April.

Among other G-20 leaders Obama has met the Japanese prime minister, Taro Aso, and the Canadian prime minister, Stephen Harper.

Obama had talked about the world leaders coming together and collectively taking up this issue way back in September, when the economic crisis had just started, he said.

"I've said this before, the president -- last September when we were dealing with the beginning of this -- the beginning of the big market turndown and the economic crisis, the president talked about the G-20 acting together," Gibbs said.
    
Global economic crisis would dominate the talks between Brown and Obama, he said, adding he expects a longer discussion on this issue. "It's hard to probably pick up a paper here or in England and not deal with many of the same issues."
    
"As the president said in September that we have to act together in helping to stimulate the economies of the G-20, as well as ensuring that there's some financial rules of the road so that we don't find ourselves in the same position a few years down the line," Gibbs said.

This would be the first meeting between Brown and Obama, after the latter became the US president.
