Neil Nitin Mukesh aspires to follow the footsteps of his idol Kishore Kumar by excelling both in acting and singing.
Johnny Gaddar actor Neil Nitin Mukesh aspires to follow the footsteps of his idol Kishore Kumar by excelling both in acting and singing.
Neil, who has sung the title track of his upcoming film, Aa Dekhe Zara, is happy that the song is ruling the music charts and is being liked by the audience.
The 27-year-old actor, who is the grandson of legendary singer Mukesh, wants to take his family tradition forward while concentrating on his acting career.
"I would to love sing and compose music in my upcoming films if my producers think that I am capable enough," Neil said.
The actor, who has been trained in music by his grandfather, writes lyrics for his self composed tunes.
When asked whether his singing for the film was an effort to match up with the current trend of actors turning singers, he said, "Singing is a passion for me. I want to be associated with creativity in whichever way I can, be it acting or singing. And I think it helps in my acting, especially in voice modulation and expressions."
Off late, a lot of Bollywood stars have lent their voices to their films' music. Be it Akshay Kumar rapping for Chandni Chowk to China, actor-composer Himesh Reshammiya or director-turned-actor Farhan Akhtar, who made his singing debut with Rock on, they are more than happy to show off their vocal talents.
On his singing abilities, Neil said, "I would not say that I am a professional, but yes I can sing much better than a bathroom singer."
The actor, who is a self confessed "greatest fan of Kishore Kumar", said that it was his idea to sing and recreate the magic of the famous composition by RD Burman, 'Aa Dekhe Zara' which was originally sung by Kumar.
"It is like a tribute from my side to the great Kishore Kumar and of course RD Burman," Neil said.
Neil, who gained rave reviews for his portrayal of Johnny Gaddar, will now be back on the silver screen with actress Bipasha Basu after a break of over a year.
The film is said to be a romantic thriller which revolves around Neil's character, Ray Acharya whose life changes after he discovers a camera that can predict the future through images.
While enjoying the power of his shutterbug, Acharya soon realises that he has invited many troubles as well.
"It is high time we realise that films are meant for entertainment and the audiences must come out of theatres having a thrilling experience. Aa Dekhe Zara aims to do just that," the actor said.
The actor, who won critical appreciation with his debut, believes that it is really important to keep the critics happy.
"You know those stars they (critics) give, influence the audience's decision whether to watch a film or not. However, I feel there should be proper parameters drawn for rating films so that those who put in a lot of hardwork while shooting get their due appreciation," Neil said.
The actor said that after playing 'boy-next-door' characters, he now wants to play a lover boy. "I want to do more of love stories, in fact I am doing one with director Ken Ghosh," he said.
Neil, who counts Amitabh Bachchan as his inspiration, would be seen in three films back to back, after Aa Dekhe Zara. These include Yashraj banner's New York with John Abrahan and Katrina Kaif, Sudhir Mishra's Tera Kya hoga Johnny and Madhur Bhandarkar's Jail.
