Party men betraying Sena would be taught a lesson: Uddhav

Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray said that party men betraying Sena after being elected on saffron votes should be taught a lesson.

"The one who proves his dedication to the voters and later adopts treacherous way to his personal gains would be taught a befitting lesson," he said.

He was addressing a public rally for Sena-BJP alliance candidate Bhavana Gawali as part of his Vidarbha election on Monday evening. Drawing attention to the woes of cotton growers in Vidharbha region, he said, " Pre-independence days, the cotton
farmers of Vidarbha used to give loan to the mill owners of Manchester in England while the 61-year rule of Congress gave them nothing but left them in misery."

They were the Congressmen who had called farmers here as lazy and cheats, he said.
Training his guns at the NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, Uddhav asked the gathering,"What would happen if a person keeps relationship with many?" adding that Pawar and company are trying their best to grab the PM post without any credibility to reach the coveted post.

"Sharad Pawar is Agriculture minister in the Union government. What has he done to safeguard the interest of the farmers trapped in unprecedented agrarian crisis?" he said
on the issue of farmers' suicide in the region. 

On Congress, he said that party has no agenda in the election and is awfully busy in entraining people by roping in film stars for their road shows. Referring the Congress candidate Haribhau Rathod, who left Sena to join Congress, Uddhav asked, "Didn't you vote for him in 2004 in the name of saffron alliance? Will you vote again for a treacherous person like Rathod who have not only amassed huge wealth but also humiliated the voters (loyal saffron believers) by defecting to Congress?"

The state and Centre governments have given load shedding, unemployment and hollow promises during their tenures, he said.
