Monkey business

He makes the A-list popstars look good on screen and the latest video that he made was for Nelly Furtado. We caught up with Canadian, Aaron A or Gorilla, as he is popularly known in the music circuit with the news that he will be soon working with Indian artistes.

How was the experience working with Nelly Furtado?
Working with Nelly was great! It started out with me going on the road with her to film her world tour, everything from change rooms to the concert and afterwards on the bus or plane. I guess being with someone everyday for so long, you develop a great relationship, and we have. I love working with her she is one of the most humble, sweet, kind, and extremely talented persons I have met. With her success, it’s refreshing to see that someone can remain that way.

Why did you decide to work for Indian artistes?
Parichay reached out to me...all thanks to facebook! He had heard about me and
seen some videos and knew it would be a right match.

What prompted you to take up the project? Are there other Indian projects that you are currently considering?
At first I was worried, because I have never done anything Indian or ‘desi’ based. I was concerned I wouldn’t produce the style that they wanted, but then, that’s why Parichay reached out to me, they wanted my style fused with their music. So, after some discussion, I decided to take it on. I don’t disclose future ventures or videos until they are complete and released.

Are you looking at more projects in India?
I love travelling the world working with different cultures and bringing that to the screen. I already have and enjoy working abroad. So, if the projects are right, I could see myself touching down in India, or working with more Indian artists in the future. I am excited to see what India has to offer as their artists are breaking out on the international scene.

Is there any Indian artiste that you would like to pair with an international one?
I work with so many different artists in various genres that it comes down to meeting them, learning about the project and seeing if it's something I get and can make a great video of.
