Will terror threat to sporting events deter avid enthusiasts?

In a cricket-crazy nation, people feel that it will be difficult to keep fans away from stadiums, despite attacks.

Many loopholes in our security system
The terror threat will deter people from watching IPL matches in stadiums. It may even instill fear in the minds of foreign athletes, who may pull out as a result. I think there are too many loopholes and weak links in our security system. If the system was strong, then I wouldn’t mind going for the events. But I don’t think I would like to go for the sporting events.

IPL matches won’t have empty stands
Threats won’t affect attendance in stadiums. Indians are crazy about sports, especially cricket. I don't think any IPL matches in Mumbai will have empty stands. It may affect foreign players and deter them from coming to India. I would go to watch sports events irrespective of terror threats. With respect to security, India is not well-equipped like nations in Europe and Asia.

Motive is to create fear among people
There is no guarantee where the terror groups will strike again. I don’t think sports fans or foreigners should avoid big sporting events, just because a terror outfit has threatened to target them. There main motive is to create fear among people and if we get scared, then they will feel victorious. Police and security agencies should be alert and make the country safer.                                     —Vikram Rao

Govt must reassure people
I’m not scared of any terror threats and will go to attend such events. I know many won’t agree with me, but people need to stand firm against such outfits. I don’t think the security measures are up to the mark. More steps need to be taken to make international meets safer. The government needs to assure citizenry and prove to people that there is nothing to worry.

Must show support for players & teams
During the run-up to any big event such threats are spread to create fear among people. I don't think anybody should take them seriously and avoid IPL matches. We must show our support to players and teams. I will definitely go since I have full faith in our security system. I’m sure the concerned authorities are doing their best to make the events safe.
