Virat Kohli has made it a reputation to single-handedly win games for both his country and IPL franchise. This is the very reason why he has drawn comparisons with the great  Sachin Tendulkar. The maverick right-hander was again at his very best on Saturday when he scored his second IPL ton, this time against Rising Pune Supergiants (RPSG) and in doing so he broke his idol's long standing IPL record.

The Delhite became the first captain in the cash rich league to score 500-plus runs in three separate seasons. Tendulkar had scored 500-plus runs in the 2010 and 2011 editions as captain of Mumbai Indians (618 in 2010 while 553 in 2011).

Kohli, the current 'orange cap' holder is leading the run-charts this edition with 541 runs. In 2013, he had scored 634 which is highest by any captain till date and 505 in 2015. Gautam Gambhir and David Warner are the other captains to have scored more that 500 runs in a season.

The RCB skipper's records don't stop here, as on Saturday he  became the only batsman to score two tons in a single IPL season and also the only player to register two IPL tons while captaining a side. He also joined the likes of Brendon McCullum, Shane Watson, Warner, AB de Villiers, Adam Gilchrist and Virender Sehwag to hit two IPL centuries overall. The most number of IPL tons -- five -- though still belongs to Chris Gayle.

Riding on Kohli's unbeaten 108 off just 58 balls, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Pune by seven wickets and registered their third win of the season.
