It has been quite some time now since one has witnessed a Caribbean victory on a cricket ground. But on Monday, the Trinidad & Tobago team gave the West Indian cricket fans something to celebrate as they defeated Somerset in their first match of the Champions League T20.
Needing 151 to assure themselves of a place in the next round, Somerset fell short of the target by 44 runs. Dwayne Bravo, who failed with the bat, made amends with the ball picking up four wickets for just 23 runs to help his team get off to a winning start. Bravo took two wickets in his first spell and then added another couple in the last over of the match.

Defending 150, Bravo gave Trinidad the all-important breakthrough in the second over itself, when he got rid of Marcus Trescothick. Next over, Bravo sent back Craig Keiswetter. Sherwin Ganga got the wicket of Justin Langer off the last ball of the powerplay to reduce Somerset to 28 for three.
Apart from Bravo, left-arm chinaman bowler Dave Mohammed picked up two wickets for just 18 runs in his four overs, while man-of-the- match, Sherwin Ganga pocketed a couple of wickets in his three overs.
Earlier, some useful contribution from all Trinidad batsmen and a late onslaught by Ganga helped Trinidad reach 150.
