South African captain Graeme Smith will miss the ODI series against India because of a finger injury and veteran all-rounder Jacques Kallis will lead the side in his absence.

Smith would return home soon and prolific batsman Hashim Amla has been added to South Africa's one day squad, media manager Michael Owen-Smith told PTI here today.

"Doctors have advised Smith 10 days' rest to recover from the fracture in his left little finger. He is returning home and (Hashim) Amla will be added to the side. (Jacques) Kallis will lead the side in Smith's absence," Owen-Smith said.

The team management, however, expects regular stumper Mark Boucher, who missed the ongoing Test owing to a back spasm, to be fit before the first ODI on February 21 in Jaipur. "He is recovering and we expect him to be fit by Sunday's match," Owen-Smith said.

Five specialist one-day players Herschelle Gibbs, Charl Langeveldt, Loots Bosman, Albie Morkel and Roelof van der Merwe have already joined the team. Apart from Jaipur, Gwalior (February 24) and Ahmedabad (February 27), host the other India-South Africa ODIs.
