Former Pakistan captain Mohammed Yousuf has reportedly agreed to come out of retirement and join the team in England ahead of the second Test against Australia at Headingly starting July 21.

According to sources, following Pakistan’s 150-run loss in the Lord’s Test and captain Shahid Afridi’s unexpected decision to quit Test captaincy after the Headingly Test, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ijaz Butt had asked Yousuf to come out of retirement to which the right hand batsman agreed.

Afridi told The News that he had also requested the PCB to consider recalling experienced batsmen like Mohammed Yousuf and Younis Khan.

“We really need specialist batsmen with ample experience to tackle top teams like Australia,” said Afridi.

Yousuf had retired from international cricket in protest against the indefinite ban and fine imposed by the PCB following the winless tour of Australia in January February this tear.
