The batting maestro underwent an MRI scan in a Mumbai hospital as a precautionary measure; he will join mates in Bangalore today.
Sachin Tendulkar is hale and hearty and will be available for India’s next World Cup match. He consulted a doctor just as a precautionary measure and there are no serious fitness concerns. India meet England in a crucial league fixture in Bangalore on Sunday.
“Nothing serious at all,” Tendulkar told DNA when asked about reports of injury and his subsequent meeting with a doctor. Tendulkar met doctors at Bandra’s Lilavati Hospital where he underwent an MRI scan on the left knee. “It was just a precautionary measure,” Tendulkar said.
Tendulkar stayed back in Mumbai, while his India teammates flew to Bangalore from Dhaka on Sunday. He will join his mates on Tuesday. “I’m going to continue with my normal team schedule,” Tendulkar confirmed. He became the most capped ODI player during India’s World Cup opener against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Saturday. For the record, he has played 445 ODIs.
Team manager Ranjib Biswal has allayed fears of injury to members of the squad. “All 15 players are fit for the next game. Sachin had an old injury. There was a niggle and we wanted to ensure that all is fine. There’s nothing to worry about. The (MRI) report is all clear,” Biswal said.
Meanwhile, the team manager confirmed that Mahendra Singh Dhoni had rejoined the squad on Monday. The India skipper had taken special permission from the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the International Cricket Council to honour his commitments at the ongoing National Games in Ranchi, his hometown. Dhoni had flown to Ranchi via Kolkata on Sunday.
