Slovenian Prime minister Borut Pahor has offered to clean the players' shoes if the national soccer team qualify for the World Cup finals via next month's playoffs.

"We have a second chance and we will use it ... and I will clean shoes," Pahor told a news conference on Thursday, the day after Slovenia beat San Marino 3-0 to finish second in qualifying Group Three behind Slovakia.

Slovenia, who qualified for Euro 2000 and the 2002 World Cup, beat Slovakia 2-0 away on Saturday but finished two points behind the group winners.

They will play France, Russia, Portugal or Greece next month in a bid to reach next year's World Cup in South Africa.
