Former Australian opening batsman Justin Langer has said any talk of England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff making a return to Test cricket is a laughable suggestion.

Flintoff retired from Test cricket after last summer's victorious Ashes series. He has since announced he will play first-class cricket for Lancashire, prompting speculation he could be eyeing a Test return, when England defend the little urn Down Under next winter.

"Freddie Flintoff is a great bloke, and was a wonderful bowler in his prime – I'd put him in the top couple of bowlers I have ever faced. But he retired because his body could no longer stand up to the rigours of Test cricket. I am not sure how much that could change after another knee operation,” The Sun quoted Langer, as saying.

"It is great publicity for the series – it adds to the drama of the build-up. But put it this way, I will be staggered if he is playing for England in the next Ashes series," he added.
