Against the backdrop of Shiv Sena and Sri Ram Sena's threat to disrupt the Indo-Pak cricket series, the city police commissioner said tight security would be provided.
Against the backdrop of Shiv Sena and right wing outfit Sri Ram Sena's threat to disrupt the Indo-Pak cricket series, City Police Commissioner Jyotiprakash Mirji on Saturday said tight security would be provided for the Twenty20 match at the Chinaswamy stadium here on December 25.
Stern action will be taken against those who try to disrupt the T20 match, he told reporters in Bangalore, adding, there would be no compromise on the security of players and spectators.
"The agitators will not be allowed to protest in and around Chinnaswamy stadium for the next three days. However, they are allowed to stage protest somewhere else, far from the stadium," he said.
Mirji said since the governments of both the countries have agreed to hold the bilateral series, no organisation can stall or disrupt the match.
The Shiv Sena and Sri Ram Sena had called upon people to disrupt cricket matches between India and Pakistan.
Mirji said more than 5000 police personnel would be deployed for the security of Indian and Pakistani teams.
"Tight security will be deployed around the stadium, the travelling routes and hotel where they will be put up."
Four DCPs, 27 ACPs, 19 Inspectors, 270 Sub-Inspectors, 1750 head constables and constables and 240 ASIs would be deployed for providing security to Indian and Pakistani players. City Armed Reserve, Karnataka State Reserve Police and CRP personnel will also be used.
Dog squads would be engaged and CCTVs installed in and around the stadium, players' travelling routes and their hotel, Mirji said.
On match day, Mirji said a parking ban will be imposed in 13 places in and around the stadium and no traffic will be allowed from 11 am to 11 pm there.
Pakistan will play their second T20 match against India at Ahmedabad on December 27 before heading to Chennai for the first of the three-match ODI series, starting December 30.
The second ODI will be played at Kolkata on January 3, while Delhi will host the final one-dayer on January 6.
The last time the two neighbouring countries met in a bilateral series was in 2007 when Pakistan toured India.
The cricketing ties between the two nations were snapped after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
