Venezuela's new cap Mario Sanchez scored a late winner to hand North Korea a 2-1 defeat in their second World Cup warm-up in three days in the South American country on Saturday.

The Asian team, going to the finals for the second time since 1966, drew the first match 1-1 with Venezuela in San Felipe on Thursday.

Sanchez, who came on as a substitute 12 minutes from the end for his international debut, struck at an 89th-minute corner to hand Venezuela victory in the friendly in Puerto La Cruz.

Defender Jose Luis Granados put Venezuela ahead in the eighth minute and midfielder Guk Mun-in equalised in the 65th from a left cross.

The first match between the two countries lasted only 80 minutes after kicking off two hours late. The Koreans' luggage was mislaid so they had to borrow Venezuela's all-white second strip.

North Korea face Brazil, Ivory Coast and Portugal in Group G at the World Cup in South Africa which starts on June 11.
