Day 9 of the Games didn't start on a bright note for India as two of its athletes were sent home. Rakesh Babu and Irfan Kolothum Thodi were sent home after a needle was found in a cup in their bedroom at the Athletes' Village, the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) said on Friday.
On Friday, Indian athletes will compete in Hockey, Table Tennis, Badminton, Wrestling, Squash and Athletics.
H S Prannoy advances to semifinals in men's badminton. He defeated Sri Lanka's Dinuka Karunaratna in straight games.
The Indian mixed doubles team of Ashwini Ponappa and Satwik Ranireddy also advances to the semifinals after beating Malaysia. They won the match 21-19 and 21-19
Table Tennis: Alas, Indian fans will not get to witness a dream final. Harmeet Desai and Sanil Shetty lose in the men's doubles semi-final against England's Liam Pitchford and Paul Drinkhall. If Desai and Shetty had won, they would've played their compatriots Sharath Kamal and G Sathiyan in the final. The English pair, though, did well to hold on to their nerves and seal the match 7-11, 11-13, 11-13. Desai and Shetty will now contest in the bronze medal playoff.
Mausam Khatri, just won a in men's Freestyle 97kg #wrestling category with his phenomenal performance on the mat.

Some great rearguard fight by Pooja. She managed to cut down the lead to 5-6, but finally the Nigerian Odunayo Adekuoroye seals the bout 7-5. India made an official protest over a point, but it was turned down. So Pooja had to settle for silver, but she can definitely hold her head up in pride as she lost to an extremely accomplished wrestler, who just won her second CWG gold in a row.

Table Tennis: India's TT players continue to impress! Mixed doubles pairs of Sharath Kamal/Mouma Das and Manika Batra/Sathiyan G gave made it to the semis. They won't be playing each other in the semis so there's a good chance we could have an all-Indian final. In any case, one medal is guaranteed for India in table tennis mixed doubles.
Wrestling: India's Bajrang Punia is through to the final! The wrestler will compete for gold in the men's Freestyle 65 kg category. Bajrang made his way to the final after notching up three straight wins by technical superiority. He will take on Wales’s Kane Charig at around 1 pm IST.
