While players of Croatia and France were battling it out on the field in Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow Russia to become the next football world champions, the rebellious punk rock band from Russia, Pussy Riots sent in their pitch invaders to interrupt the game.

Four streakers stormed the field on Sunday during the 2018 FIFA World Cup final in Moscow, Russia, on Sunday. During the second half when Croatia was looking to claw their way back in after trailer 2-1 to France, four people wearing white shirts, black pants and black ties, which is reportedly the police uniform, invaded the pitch. They were promptly brought down by the stadium security.

Soon after the invasion, Pussy Riot claimed the responsibility for the incident via their social media accounts.

They posted a long message making six demands that were represented by their invaders.

1. Free all political prisoners.
2. Don't plant for likes.
3. Stop illegal arrests at rallies.
4. Allow political competition in the country.
5. Don't fabricate criminal cases and don't keep people just like that in sizo.
6. Turn the earth militiamen into the heavenly militiamen.

Pussy Riot rose to global prominence with their daring outdoor performances critical of Russia President Vladimir Putin.

The Pussy Riot stars were jailed in Russia in 2012 after performing their anti-President Putin protest song 'Mother of God, Drive Putin Away' inside Moscow's Cathedral of Christ The Saviour. They spent 16 months behind bars.

They also starred in Netflix marquee show House of Cards. In the episode, Nadya Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina, the provocative punks of the band, cause a scene at a state dinner as Kevin Spacey's US president Frank Underwood hosts Russian leader Viktor Petrov, played by Lars Mikkelsen.

The girls tip champagne on the White House table and storm out after President Petrov pokes fun at them over dinner.
