Novak Djokovic celebrated his fourth Wimbledon title -- by munching on the Centre Court grass today.

Djokovic defeated a battling but exhausted Kevin Anderson 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7/3) to add the 2018 title to his wins in 2011, 2014 and 2015.

He also took his Grand Slam total to 13 after a year which had seen him struggle with form and confidence, sending his world ranking to its lowest in over a decade.

"The grass tasted really well. I had a double portion this year to treat myself," said the 31-year-old.

Djokivic's son Stefan saw his dad lift the Wimbledon trophy for the first time. After winning the trophy Djokovic swapped some parenting tips with Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge Catherine.

The sight of Djokovic snacking on the Centre Court grass has become a Wimbledon tradition since the Serb first did it after beating Rafael Nadal in the 2011 final.

This is Djokovic's first Grand Slam victory in more than two years.

Anderson saw a nervous start, striking a forehand long at 30/30 and then double faulting at break point to gift Djokovic the first game.

Djokovic won 12 of the first 15 points to seize early control of the final.

Although Anderson looked more competitive in the game, Djokovic kept the upper hand in longer rallies and kept his opponent on the backfoot with changes in groundstroke pace.

With 13 major titles, Djokovic now stands in fourth place in the all-time Grand Slam singles final list, behind Roger Federer (20), Rafael Nadal (17) and Pete Sampras (14).
