A blind South African man has earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records by driving a car at 200 miles per hour.

South Africa's News24 reports that Durbanville native, Hein Wagner, piloted a high performance Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series to the amazing speed on a closed runway at Upington International Airport.

Wagner maintained the speed for over half a mile before letting off of the gas. A navigator from the group that certified the record rode in the passenger seat, giving Wagner instructions, FOX News reports.

It's not the first time that Wegner, who is also a motivational speaker, has driven at high speed.

In 2005, he set the record at 167 mph in a Maserati, before a blind Belgian driver stole it from him with a 191 mph run.

Wagner hopes his next feat will be to break 500 mph at the helm of a Boeing jet full of passengers flying between London and Johannesburg.
