Considering that most management institutes are now emphasising on ethics in business, the ‘leak’ episode puts a question mark on the integrity of students, claims CAT-2010 convenor Himanshu Rai.

Rai said: “At least I am going to question the students on the entire episode. Questions on ethics are part of the interviews, and it is important to know what candidates feel about such an act. It is important for us to know about the integrity of students who will be getting into our institutes. We are responsible for creating future leaders, and we cannot afford to have candidates who have tried unethical or weird means to peep into something that will be available to them within a matter of few days.”

Several students claimed to have seen their CAT-2010 results by going onto the cached pages of the CAT-2009 results’ website in the last week. Rai said, “I do not have any means to check what they claim to have seen on the website. But the fact that they tried to get the results in such a manner is not acceptable. I am not bothering to test the system or even secure it, because we have not ‘leaked’ the results as has been portrayed. Some students have tried to seek them online. That cannot be called a leak.”

He added that the CAT website will go on and off for some days, as the IIMs are testing the system in preparation for January 12 when the results will be officially announced.
