Hailing the landmark decision of centre for opening two central universities in Jammu and Kashmir, minister for higher education Abdul Gani Malik today said this will boost the educational set up in the state.

"We are very happy over the decision and hail it. It is a landmark decision of central government. This will boost the educational set up in the state", Malik said while interacting with the students here.

The minister said education sector has been accorded priority by the government and setting up of central universities is one such major step in this direction which
will improve the education scenario in the state in addition to providing better employment avenues to the local population.

He said the major thrust would be on strengthening infrastructure in existing institutions.

The minister said the education system will be revived by involving private entrepreneurship as investment in the sector would lead to long-term benefits in terms of better human resource.

Malik said proper monitoring and check on the private institutions will be maintained so that they can adhere to the prescribed norms and provide quality education
to the students.

The minister stressed that students should also check the authenticity and credibility of the educational institutes and degrees they pursue.
