More than 17.14 lakh students have registered for the Class 10 and 12 board exams to be conducted by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board from March 12, education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said.
Chudasama said that all preparations for smooth conduct of the exams have been completed. An official release from the state government said that 11,03,674 students have registered for the Class 10 Board exam. The number of students registered for Class 12 Science stream exams is 1,34,671, and those registered for Class 12 General stream is 4,76.,634.
"In all, 17,14,979 students have registered for the exams. All arrangements have been made to ensure that the students are able to sit in exams with a happy frame of mind," Chudasama said.
The Class 10 exams will take place from March 12 to 23 from 10:00 am to 1:20 pm. The Class 12 Science stream exams will take place from March 12 to 22 from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm, and those of Class 12 General stream between March 12 and 28 from 10:30 am to 1:45 pm and 3:00 pm to 6:16 pm. "The exams will be conducted in 60,337 classrooms in 1,548 centres," it said. The release added that care has been taken so that specially-abled candidates can appear for the exams on the ground floor. For the very first time, Braille question papers have been introduced for visually challenged students appearing for Class 10 boards. The state has been divided into 135 zones for the exams, including 79 for Class 10, and 56 for Class 12, it added.
