A health report of the city revealed by the health department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) states that in the first week of January, 205 water-borne cases were reported by AMC-run hospitals. The water-borne cases are likely to appear during the summer season, the number of cases which have been reported in last week is quite high for the winter season. Out of the total of 205 cases, 131 cases are of gastroenteritis, 44 of jaundice and 30 cases are of typhoid.
The health department has taken up 923 samples of water for bacterial test randomly. The result of the same will be available in a week. Also, 1.5 lakh chlorine table have been distributed for water purification in slum pockets. In the vector-borne cases total, 17 cases have been reported out of which ten cases of malaria, six cases of falciparum and one case of dengue have been reported.
