36-year-old nabbed for duping 15 jewellers in city

A 36-year-old man, who duped 15 jewellery shops in the city, was arrested on Thursday. The worth of the goods is around Rs 5 lakh.

The accused, identified as Jay Pandit, of Meghaninagar, had been doing the notorious activities for the last one-and-half year.

The accused used to visit the jewellery shop in the name of buying ornaments. As the accused was educated, the owner of the boy used to get into his talk.

After stealing the ornaments, he used to provide a check to the jewellery shop owner which the owner used to deny. In his response, he used to tell the owner to send his employee with him to the near bank with the jewellery and he will withdraw the cash and will give to him.

When owner used to agree with him, he would take the employee with him to the bank, from where he used to take the ornaments from the employee and used to flee away from the spot.
