In the 94 bonded labourers rescued from Kathwada case, cops have arrested two suspected agents in the matter. As per police officials, two labourers who were working in the factory even worked as agents for the labour contractor and had arranged the labourers for him.
On Saturday the Nikol police had rescued 94 labourers belonging to Assam, Nagaland and West Bengal from a Bamba farmhouse located near SP ring road. After the labour contractor forcefully employed migrant labourers in a pharmaceutical factory and were not paid for their work.
The cops had arrested the labour contractor identified a Mukesh Bharwad,34 in the matter. During his interrogation revealed that two agents who presently worked as labourers with Bharwad had made arrangement of recruiting the 94 labourers from Nagaland. The two accused were identified as a Sinohil Bijoy (25) and Hotnabi Boyoto (36) were also arrested by Nikol police in the matter.
As per police, the two accused used to recruit people from Nagaland by luring them that they will get a job in Ahmedabad and will be paid Rs8,000 to Rs10,000 monthly. For recruiting the labours both of them were paid an extra by Barwad and were given better treatment and facility in Ahmedabad.
H.B Zala, Inspector of Nikol police station said, "Right now we have arrested a total of three accused in the matter and further investigation is revealed how many more people are involved in it.
We are going for the remand of the accused right now and further investigation will reveal more details about the entire racket. Regarding the factory owners involvement have started an investigation right now and strict action will be taken in it. "
On the other side, the cops suspect that there are more such migrant labourers in the city who are working in different factories of the city. They suspect that it huge racket of bonded labourers and further investigation will reveal the truth about it.
