On Friday, a CID team arrested two accused from Sarkhej-Sanand Circle and recovered around 20 kg of ganja worth Rs 2.03 lakh from them. During the primary investigation, it was revealed that the accused got the consignment from a local dealer in Surat.
The accused have been identified as Laxmansinh Solanki (45), a resident of Karsanpura of Ahmedabad and Jashoda Sathwara (41), a resident of Vatva. According to police officials, on Thursday, they got a tip-off from a source that a huge consignment is going to be delivered in Sarkhej-Sanand Circle on Friday. The Narcotics Cell of CID and Railway Protection Force reached the spot. A man wearing a black shirt arrived on a bike. An auto rickshaw stopped beside him and a woman began to unload a parcel from the rickshaw.
The cops immediately cordoned them off and nabbed the two. On searching the rickshaw, cops recovered 10 parcels packed with tape. On opening the parcels, the cops found around 20 kg of marujuana (ganja).
While interrogating, the accused, Jashoda revealed that she got the consignment from a person from Surat and was given the task to deliver it to Laxmansinh. Officials have sent the consignment to FSL for further investigation. Police stated that Laxmansinh is a local drug peddler and he was assigned the task by a person in Surat.
