The Metro train that was thrown open for the public on Wednesday had to be halted for close to 10 minutes on Thursday due to a technical fault. The metro ride is free for the first 10 days and Amdavadis have been flocking to it since it began functioning.
The train that runs between Vastral Gam and Apparel Park stations with no stops in between had to be stopped after the air conditioning system developed a snag. While some reports said it was a power failure, metro officials clarified that the train was stopped at Apparel Park station at around 3 in the evening to repair the same. It said that the problem was resolved at the station itself and during the time the service had been halted.
On the second day of the free metro ride over 12,000 people took the public transport system. It should be noted that on day one of the metro, over 10,000 people had hopped on for a joyride.
