Ahmedabad: Mosquito breeding spaces found at 21 construction site, four schools

The civic body has been conducting an inspection of mosquito breeding sites since a week. Administration charge worth Rs 2.65 lakh has been levied on these units.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has found 21 construction sites, four schools and a BRTS workshops, which are the most prominent sites of mosquito breeding. "We are keeping vigil to prevent mosquito breeding across the city. Our teams are inspecting, construction sites which are most likely to have fresh and stagnant water where dengue larva thrives," said Dr Bhavin Solanki, in-charge medical officer of health, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

"In last week we have inspected 893 sites of which we have issued notice to 295 units where we have found mosquito breeding sites. The list have 21 construction sites and four schools," added Dr Solanki.

The highest breeding sites were found in the west zone 102, followed by north zone 51, east zone 43, new west and south zone 36. 27 sites in central zone were served notice.

Till July 28, the civic body has reported 461 cases of malaria, 35 cases of dengue, eight cases of falciparum and 6 cases of chikungunya.
