The newly built hospital inside the VS Hospital premises will be called the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Medical Science and Research (SVPIMSR) and according to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), will be an alternative to the corporate hospital in the city. The civic body will cater to people from middle and lower income groups with the new facility.
The AMC, in order to provide all facilities as that of the corporate hospital, has also decided to have one engagement head who will take care of clients and manage their needs. "The person will also be responsible for coordinating with the cashless agencies and provide medical insurance facilities for those who want to avail it," said Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar.
He further said that the person will also be responsible for taking care of foreign clients who would be admitted. The AMC chief said around 200 beds in the hospital have been classified as special, executive and suites. The charges are Rs 2,500 for a suite, Rs 2,000 for deluxe and Rs 1,500 for a semi-special. Kumar said that the charges include doctor consultation, nursing and linen. Like at the corporate facility, the patient will be provided with a special uniform.
The commissioner also added that the charges were decided after comparing with those at the corporate hospital and the charges in the new hospital will be around 40-50% less than the existing rates in the corporate hospital.
The AMC has decided on fifteen different health check-up packages, such as diabetic check-up, cardiology check-up, women wellness check-up, basic check-up and executive check-up, among others, with prices for the different packages ranging from Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,500.
