BJP chief annoyed over party leaders' performance before Lok Sabha polls

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah rapped party leaders in Gujarat on Friday after he arrived in Ahmedabad, a day before his roadshow and filing for nomination for Lok Sabha polls. Shah had summoned the top brass of state's BJP leaders at his residence in Ahmedabad and rapped them until late in the night.

A senior party leader said on the condition of anonymity, "Amitbhai did not let the leaders sleep throughout the night. He was annoyed with them and used strong words to haul them up. The party chief was very upset with increased friction amid party leaders and workers over the distribution of tickets. He reprimanded all the top brass leaders for failing to control the damage in the party."

"The issue started with a discussion on the Unjha Assembly by-polls where the BJP was not happy if a ticket was given to Congress turncoat Asha Patel and party leaders had already committed to Patel. There are many other Lok Sabha seats over which cadres have shown their anger," added the party leader.

Amit Shah summoned different leaders including chief minister Vijay Rupani, party chief Jitu Vaghani and other leaders at his residence in Thaltej area. The meeting that started on Friday night continued till early hours of Saturday morning.

Shah was not happy with the performance of organisation on campaign of government. He said that Gujarat BJP workers and leaders failed to exploit the situation like Pulwama attack and did not hold programmes to sensitise the voters on issue. Shah also advised the home state cadres to not be over-dependent on Prime Minister Modi or him.
